The Village Caucus

How To Become a Candidate for Trustee on the Village Board:

Serving as a Trustee for the Village is a good way to give back to your community.  By becoming a Trustee, you help to shape the current and future environment in which you and your family live. The primary responsibilities of a Trustee is to attend the Village Board meetings on the second Tuesday of each month and chair at least one standing committee. Those standing committees meet "as a whole"  the first Tuesday of the each month. Committee chair assignments are made by the Village President.

Nomination to the Board of Trustees will take place at the Village Caucus which is set for Tuesday, January 3rd at 6:45 p.m. in the community room of the Village Hall.  That evening potential candidates will be nominated by a village resident and seconded by another.  All village residents who are citizens and 18 years of age or older are eligible to run.  There are no papers to file prior to becoming a candidate.

This Spring in 2012 three(3) Trustee positions are up for election. If more than six people are nominated for the three open Trustee positions all village residents attending the Caucus that night will vote to reduce the list to six candidates.  Those six, who run at large, will then be listed on the ballot for the Spring Election on April 3, 2012.  The winning candidates will take office on the third Tuesday in April and serve a 2-year term. If you have any questions about the Caucus or election process, please contact Village Hall at 715-333-2332.
