WELCOME
TO THE VILLAGE OF MERRILLAN
The Village
of Merrillan Board of Trustees welcomes you.
The Village
Board meets the first and second Tuesdays of each month at
7 p.m. at the Village Hall and you are encouraged to attend.
Veolia
Waste Services is the garbage collection provider and picks
up garbage on Thursdays each week except when a holiday falls
during that week on a weekday, then the garbage will be picked
up on Friday. Any questions on what Veolia will and will not
take you can call them at the following toll free number:
1-888-271-7176.
Recycling
pick up is the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Wednesday of
every month. All pick-ups are curbside.
Brush
and leaf pick-up is the first Monday of every month. Brush
must be in manageable lengths and bundled for safe handling
and pick up.
The Village
of Merrillan has a license and leash law and requires all
pets to be licensed and under the control of the owner when
off your premises. This includes cats. Aggressive animals
are not allowed in the Village. (Proof of current rabies vaccination
is required.)
The Village has a Public Nuisance Ordinance that addresses
unsightly accumulations of materials and junk and is strictly
enforced.
The Village
has several parks available for your pleasure and you can
reserve a structure for reunions etc., for a small fee, to
be paid at the village hall minimum two weeks prior to the
event in order to hold your reservation and it is on a first
come first served basis.
Please
stop in at the Village Hall to determine if a building or
zoning permit is required before beginning any building, fencing,
remodeling or additions to your property.
